Hotel developers meet today with their architect

The two men working toward converting the former Oconee Courthouse to a 19-room hotel meet today in Aiken with their architect.  And Tom Markovich, developer, says he and his partner, Herb Witter, will ask their architect to incorporate recommendations from the state Department of Archives and History into their plans.  Those recommendations came out of an on-site meeting Tuesday with the history consultant for the state agency.  He called it a good meeting, plenty of photographs taken.  Although nothing still is visible on the property, Markovich repeated his position in a 101.7/WGOG NEWS interview that this is a project that is going to happen.  Mayor Edwards and other city officials are rooting for the developers as they see a hotel as an important addition to their re-vitalization efforts downtown.
