Hot time on Seneca railroad tracks

A railroad car full of used cross ties ignited into fire during the night near the Seneca’s S. Walnut Street crossing. The fire provided stubborn and required both fire fighters and railroad workers to offload some of the cross ties to allow for access to the hot spots. Fire Chief Richie Caudill said it became necessary to delay the Amtrak passenger-bound Atlanta train for a few minutes to avoid interfering with the fire fighting crew. They cleared the scene by the 8 o’clock hour this morning.
