Hot meals being cooked at disaster site

Church volunteers from the Low Country of South Carolina are responding to the tornado-stricken Seneca area by cooking hot meals on the scene of the disaster. Pastor Stan Rankin, a native of Seneca, has brought a number of volunteers and a portable kitchen from his church-Hamer Church of God- near Dillon. The group will serve hot meals throughout the day for the remainder of the week. About 250 meals were served yesterday (Tuesday), according to the pastor whose wife had taught in public school in the Seneca area in past years. “We wanted to gather our resources and bring them to our hometown to help,” he said.
The portable unit is located today (Wednesday) at Ann Hope Methodist Church on Goddard Ave in the Utica Mill Village and will serve meals throughout the day.
