Hospital part of Seneca corporate limits?

The board that controls the Oconee Memorial Hospital properties is broaching the subject of annexation to Seneca. 101.7/WGOG NEWS learned last night that the annexation idea was to have been part of discussions last night by the hospital’s Holdings Board in an executive session that followed a regular meeting of the board. It’s believed no action was to have been taken. Several years ago, the idea of the then independent Oconee hospital joining Seneca’s corporate limits created a furor that led to a lawsuit. But these days, we are told, the advantages of annexation—such as sanitation services and lower utility rates—are appealing to the hospital which is now part of the Prisma health care system.
