Hope held out for decision by European manufacturer

Oconee finds itself among four U-S locations that a European manufacturer is considering, according to a report made today to the policy board of the county Economic Alliance. Janet Hartman, executive director, says this is a new possibility for Oconee County and, for now, is referred to as “Project Anvil.” Hartman’s board of directors was told that the manufacturing company makes components for the automotive industry. Company representatives looked at the Information and Technology Park on highway 11. Their visit included seeing drone footage of what the park looks like from the sky. And the look at the park from above shows a lot of activity—such as grading for a Horton Holdings plant, a Midwest company that makes engine cooling systems for trucks, as well as construction of the school district’s new Fred Hamilton Career and Information Technology Center.
