Hiker hurt on the Yellow Branch trail

Rescuers employed a wheel and a Stokes basket late yesterday to reach an injured hiker in the trail to Yellow Branch Falls within the Sumter National Forest.  According to Walhalla Fire Department, it took more than 30 minutes to reach the hiker and then more than one hour to extricate her.  Here’s some sound advice when hiking the area’s rugged trails:  wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water.
