Higher gas pump tax bearing road work results

The two-cent increase each year on South Carolina’s gas tax has begun to create a pool of money which with which the state is attacking its long list of road maintenance work. And to the Oconee-Pickens Senator Thomas Alexander it’s a sign the plan is working. Alexander refers to the announcement from the state DOT that as many as 18 roads, streets, and highways across Oconee are targeted for work in seven contracts to be carried out during next year’s paving season.
