Herman McAlister

Seneca – Herman David McAllister, 86, husband to Betty Ruth Black McAllister, passed away, August 23, 2020 at the Hospice of the Upstate, Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

 

Born in Oconee, SC, he was the son of the late Swift David and Maude Margaret Meadows McAllister. Herman was a US Marine Corps Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict: retired from Kendall Company as a machinist, was an avid outdoorsman, and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

 

Herman is survived by son, Michael David McAllister (Linda) of Simpsonville, SC; brothers, Hershel McAllister, Thomas “Butch” McAllister, Charlie McAllister; sisters, Bonita Nix, Elaine Howiller; two grandchildren, Sarah McAllister Kelley (Robbie), Zachary David McAllister (Rachel); four great-grandchildren, Sawyer Grace Kelley, Emerson Kelley, Quinn McAllister, and Bradley David McAllister.

 

In addition to his parents, Herman is preceded in death by a son, Terry Lee McAllister; brothers, Marshall “Mack” McAllister, Richard McAllister, and Furman McAllister.

 

Graveside service will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, August 26th, 2020 at Oconee Memorial Park with full military honors.  In lieu of a formal visitation, Mr. McAllister will lie in state from 12 pm – 5 pm, Tuesday, August 25th, 2020 at Sandifer Funeral Home.
