Help to fill out those “FEMA” applications

Oconee County personnel will be available to assist residents with applications for FEMA Individual Assistance, starting Thursday, May 7, 2020. Not all residents are able to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance by phone or online on their own. Therefore, staff will be available at Blue Ridge Elementary School Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to walk residents through the application process and help file applications. Oconee County personnel are not acting as FEMA representatives or in any way guaranteeing funding allocations.  FEMA Individual Assistance can help residents with eligible storm-related costs not covered by insurance. Prior to receiving Federal financial assistance, any insurance benefits must be exhausted to avoid duplication of benefits. Residents can register on their own for FEMA assistance online by logging onto DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362. Residents who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY may call 800-462-7585. Language translators also are available.
