Hearing to re-name road near Salem

Near 100 percent of property owners directly affected are willing for Oconee County to change the name of a country road near Salem. But the re-naming will require a public hearing during part of next week’s meeting of the county Planning Commission. Part of the road connects to Whitewater Point Road. The planning commissioners will take public comment on the proposal to re-name Osheal Drive to Lake Path Walk during their 6 o’clock meeting Monday night in Walhalla, in county council chambers. According to pre-hearing material for the commission, all but one property own responded favorably, which means the commissioners must approve the name change.
