Hearings set for hopefuls for utility regulatory board

Men and women from across South Carolina who seek jobs as state Public Service commissioners go under the microscope during public hearings set to start Tuesday, January 7.  There are candidates for four of the seats on the PSC, including the 3rd District seat which covers Oconee, Pickens, and Anderson counties.  The seats are important as the commission has the duty to regulate various utility companies that do business in the state.  The jobs pay a little more than $129 thousand a year, according to Senator Thomas Alexander.  The Oconee-Pickens lawmaker chairs the state’s Public Utilities Review Committee. Alexander’s House colleague from Seneca, Rep. Bill Sandifer co-chairs the committee. There are four hopefuls for the District Three seat–Mike Caston of Clemson, Kevin Evans of Salem, Santana Freeman of Abbeville, and Randy Comer of Clinton.
