Have you missed your library?

As a base, Oconee County Public Library will take into account state and national benchmarks as it re-opens library branches in various ways over the next two months.  Starting Monday of this week, the book returns were re-opened at all branches.  Materials may be returned to any branch, but will be subject to a three-day quarantine, so those items, for a few days, will still appear on a patron’s record.  But no fines are being assessed during this period.  Starting Thursday, May 14, the library will call users who had items on hold. The calls will be to arrange a pickup time and place, which will begin Monday, May 18.  No other holds may be placed.  Beginning Thursday, May 21, users may place holds through the library catalog, or by calling their local branch.  The library will call users to schedule pickups on those items starting Tuesday, May 26.  Curbside pickup will be arranged in such a way that items will be left at certain times on tables near the entrance of the branches.  On request, items can be placed in your trunk or back seat.  During this period, the library will be loaning only books, DVDs, and audiobooks.  Not available for holds are launchpads, literacy kits, telescopes, etc.  A date has not yet been set for the library to open for in-person visits.
