Have fun swimming, but remember safety

In his code enforcement job with Walhalla, James Ashton insists on compliance. But as the County Seat recorded three straight days of 96 degrees, Ashton is also concerned about swimming safety. He hopes everyone has fun frolicking in the water, but remember never swim unattended. When a swimmer gets a cramp, drownings occur in water in which the swimmer can stand. “When kids see the neighbors are gone to work and their pool is available in the backyard, where do you think they are going to go? Swimming in the swimming pool…, Ashton says. He recommends swimming in pairs. “Have at least two people with you.” More and more outdoor pools are seen this days, as stores have dropped the prices so much that you can buy them for between $300 and $500 dollars. Ashton says Walhalla pool owners should know they’ll need a permit for the pool and a 48-inch minimum high fence around it.
