Hart and Davis dispute agenda change

Glenn Hart believes a change made in the Oconee County Council meeting agendas has the effect of denying the right of a councilman to speak out. No such intent, according to Julian Davis, the council chairman. Going forward removed from the agendas are the sections allowing for new and old business. Hart, who represents District Five, sees that as infringing his right to speak his mind. Davis says there will remain on the agenda, the early part of the agenda, an opportunity for any council members to address matters they believe are relevant. That part of the agenda, Davis says, is item 3 which follows public comment. Questions raised about the county’s money-making rock quarry appear to have been the driving force in the agenda change. Comments by both Hart and Davis are airing today on 101.7/WGOG NEWS.
