Harriett Salley

Seneca – Harriett Ann Salley, 85, loving wife of more than 63 years to Donald “Bruce” Salley, passed away on Monday, October 16th, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  

 

Harriett was born January 21st, 1938, in Toccoa, Georgia.  She was the daughter of the late Francis Sidney and Murrell Jones Harper. Harriett was a loving wife, devoted mother, a business owner of “A New Twist”, a teacher, and a dedicated volunteer with the Anderson S.C. Junior League, PTA, and the soup kitchens in Seneca and Westminster. She was a former elder and member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church. She treasured family, friends, and neighbors.

 

Harriett is survived by her loving husband Bruce Salley; son, David Bruce Salley of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter, Susan Salley Albers (Paul Joseph) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; brother, Scott Alexander Harper; sister, Rebecca Harper DeFoor (the late Reginald); and three grandchildren, Phillip Joseph Albers, Anna Salley Albers, and Joseph Paul Albers; and a brother-in-law, Michael Willimon.

 

In addition to parents, Harriett is preceded in death by her sister, Frances “Fran” Sydney Harper Willimon.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Monday, October 23rd, 2023 at Westminster Baptist Church with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.   The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at Westminster Baptist Church.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Harriett’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization dedicated to supporting research and providing assistance to those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
