Harold Young

Seneca – Harold Young, 77, husband of Barbara Berry Young, passed away on Tuesday, July 20th, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

 

Harold was born in Oconee County, and was the son of the late James Verlin Young and Nora Lee Gurley Young.  Harold retired after thirty years of service from J.P. Stevens in Clemson, SC.  In 1989 following his retirement from J.P. Stevens, he became the owner of Betty’s Hungry House and retired from there in 1999 but remained there daily until they closed in 2019.  Harold was of the Methodist faith and his greatest joy and love was spending time with his grandkids.

 

Harold is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Berry Young; daughter, Michelle Smith (David) of Walhalla; stepson, Joe Rowland of Greenwood; stepdaughter, Misty Cooper of Walhalla; brothers, Clay Young of Walhalla and Horace Young of Seneca; grandchildren, Madison Rankin, Shilo Smith, Adelaine Young, Calla Young, November Cooper, and Bailie Gilliam.

 

In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by son; Tony Harold Young, brothers; Claude Bobby Young and Ronnie Hughes, sisters; Betty Finley, Pauline Hughes, Mozelle Alexander, Thelma Bryson and Velma Neal.

 

A funeral service will be held, 11:00 am, Saturday, July 24th, 2021, at the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, July 23rd at Sandifer Funeral Home.
