Gunfire wounds two near Walhalla

Two people were wounded by gunfire early today near Walhalla. The Sheriff’s Office identifies one of the wounded as the homeowner, who is believed to have been held at gunpoint. The second wounded person is identified as the suspect in a report of trespassing at the scene—a home on Quarter Horse Trail near the Old House Road. The report of trespassing was received at 3:35 am. The home owner, not identified by name, was taken to a Greenville hospital. The wounded suspect also went to Greenville after deputies administered first aid. The Oconee Sheriff’s Office is investigating. According Capt. Greg Reed, no further information will be released at this time, including the names of the homeowner and the suspect. Sheriff Crenshaw says at this time, there’s no further threat to the public.
