Guilty pleas sentered, 20-year sentenced ordered

A 36-year old business owner faces 20 years in the state prison system after he entered guilty pleas this afternoon in Oconee County to a series of sex offenses in which the victims were of minor age.  David Scott Thibault will receive credit for 417 days in jail awaiting the resolution of the charges against him.  Thibault placed himself on the mercy of the court, telling the judge what he did during a two-year period made for “the most regrettable actions in (his) life”.  He told Judge Maddox:  “I hate what I did” and he apologized. The defendant told the judge that he owned a software company.  And his lawyer said his client had no prior record.  According to defense lawyer David Plowden, once Thibault completes his sentence he is aware that for a period of not less than 10 years, he will be required to wear a GPS monitor.
