Grocery “re-start” bags available at no charge

The JoAnn Johnson Media Foundation, a 501c3 organization in partnership with the United Way, Zone 7 Landscaping and Scenic Heights Church in West Union will give out Grocery Restart Bags on Saturday at the Shaver Recreational Complex.
These bags include refrigerated items that may have been lost due to the power outage which resulted from the tornado. They began providing the Grocery Restart Bags to residents who live in apartment complexes in the Seneca area and the need, according to Johnson, has quickly grown.
Scenic Heights Church is collecting bags as well and, as a result, the ministry will be onsite at the Shaver Recreations Complex at 1:00 handing out bags to families.
This ministry is requesting that anyone wishing to join in this effort, bring these bags to the Shaver Recreation Complex at 12:45 pm. Each bag should include the following items: 1 gallon on milk, 1 jug of juice, 1 dozen eggs, 1 loaf of bread, 1 pack of lunch meat, 1 pack of cheese singles, 1 head of lettuce,1 tub of butter or margarine, 1 mayonnaise, 1 mustard, 1 ketchup, 1 pack of chicken (3 breasts) and 1 pound of hamburger. To date, hundreds of Grocery Restart Bags have been given to residents of Oconee and they continue to assess the needs.
