Green thumb efforts at Walhalla High pay off

Walhalla High School is one of ten South Carolina schools awarded a state grant for its students environmental efforts.  The Green Steps Class at the high school is the recipient of a $2,500 DHEC grant to expand two existing gardens by increasing the number of flowering plants and establishing an irrigation system. Champions of the Environment Grants from the Department of Health and Environmental Control go to schools to foster environmental education and action in classrooms, from the kindergarten thru the 12th grade.
