Grass left uncut along Oconee’s state highways

In some spots, the banks of grass along Oconee major state highways have grown to two to three feet, after the state’s contractor ended its mowing contract last month.  As a result, DOT maintenance crews have resumed some grass-cutting duties.  A spokeswoman for the South Carolina DOT said, “A new contractor will be starting this week to complete one cycle of mowing….A plan is currently in the works to establish a long-term contract….The new contract should be awarded by the end of June with a start date around July 15.”
