Good mental health stressed by the schools

The emotional well-being of a student these days is as important as his physical being.  And this is the month that Oconee public schools are showing middle and high school students age-appropriate videos on depression and suicide awareness.  The videos are produced by Erika’s Lighthouse, a non-profit focused on educating and raising awareness about adolescent depression, encouraging good mental health and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health issues.  On the district website is a link to mental health resources.  Because of the pandemic, the district has called off its annual Hike for Hope.  In its place, however, families are encouraged to walk, hike, or simply spend time together as a way to recognize student prevention awareness.
