GEORGE BYRD, JR.
Westminster- George Wesley Byrd, Jr., 81, husband of the late Linda Duncan Byrd, passed away on Thursday, October 20th, 2022, at his residence.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, George was the son of the late George W. Byrd, Sr., and Willie Mae Byrd. George was retired from JP Stevens with 35 years of service and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
George is survived by his son, Jeffrey Lane Byrd, Sr., (Marsha) of Westminster; daughter, Elizabeth Annette Buckner (David) of Westminster; sisters, Elloise Stancil of Walhalla, Dot Longfellow of Walhalla, Regina Harper of Liberty; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, George is preceded in death by his sister, Annie Ruth Byrd.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 3:30 pm at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
The family is at the home of his son, Jeff Byrd, 336 Holly Branch Road, Westminster, SC 29693. In lieu of flowers, memorials in George’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, Attn: Foundation Office, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672.
