Gay Compton
Seneca – Teresa “Gay” Compton, 62, passed away on Thursday, February 25th, 2021 at her daughter’s residence.
Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Otis Ray Black and Ella Naomi Rogers Black Harris. Gay was employed with Consolidated Southern as a Safety Coordinator at the Oconee Nuclear Station and was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed reading and traveling, but her greatest passion was spending time with her many grandchildren.
Gay is survived by her lifelong partner for over 40 years, Raymond White; sons Steven Compton (Kim), Douglas Compton (Jessica); daughters, Shannon Tilson (Shon), Laura Popham (Chad), Janice Rogers (Keith), Cayli Masters (Kain), and step-daughter, Dena Padgett (Jamie); brother, Rusty Black; sisters, Brenda Hawkins, Jane Mulkey, Sue Black, Tina McAlister; twenty-two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Gay is preceded in death by a brother, Larry Black; sisters, Shelby Hawkins, and Cathy Barton.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 28th, 2021 at Return Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 28th, 2021, prior to the service, at Return Baptist Church.
The family is at the home of the daughter, Shannon Tilson, 209 Stacey Kelley Dr. Seneca, SC 29678.
