Further details on new boil water advisory

The City of Walhalla Water Department advises the residents of the Pickett Post/N HWY 11 area, located in Oconee County, to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking. An early morning water main break near Earth Berm Lane on N HWY 11 has resulted in low system pressures and a drained storage tank. Affected areas include: – HWY 11, North of the SC 183 intersection – SC 183, East of the HWY 11 intersection to Country Junction Rd – Country Junction Rd., North to Oconee Creek Rd. – Old Flat Shoals Rd. – Lecroy Rd. – Deaton Rd. – Falcon’s Lair – Falcon’s Nest – Falcon’s View – Pickett Post Rd. – Forest Acres – Bethel Church Rd. – Willow Lane, and all areas in between these points – Walhalla High School. The area is being flushed to avoid contamination, water samples will be taken, and tested. Residents should continue to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking until otherwise notified by the City of Walhalla Water Department. Also, any ice made from water, which has not been boiled, should not be used for drinking purposes. The City of Walhalla Water Department is presently working to correct the problem.
