First Oconee “drug sweep” of the year

Nine people are off the streets of Oconee County, at the start of the sheriff’s office first drug sweep of 2021.  In all, 18 people are being sought on charges involving methamphetamine, prescription drugs, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana.  Capt. Ken Washington said, “The Sheriff’s Office knows that drug abuse affects families and communities and narcotics use and distribution contribute to other crimes as well.  We have been successful in applying pressure on drug traffickers, dealers, and others that may be involved in the illegal drug trade as these types of crimes are associated with other various crimes….
