Freida Phipps
Seneca – Freida Marie Phipps, 95, wife of the late John Brown Lee Phipps, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Keowee Place in Seneca.
Born October 23rd, 1928, in Lafeyette, New Jersey, Freida was the daughter of the late Wilber H. and Flossie Mae Reed Price. Freida worked at the Sparta High School in New Jersey as a lunchroom assistant, and formerly worked at Emblads Hallmark store in Seneca, and was a volunteer for many years at Oconee Memorial Hospital. She was an active member for over 45 years at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church where she was an assistant in the kitchen with Wednesday night meals and a member of the Order of The Eastern Star.
Freida is survived by her sons, John David Phipps and wife Mary of Kinney, MN, Edward Allen Phipps and wife Joan of Vernon, NJ; daughter, Debra Brownlee Simpson and her late husband Robert of Seneca; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren; four sisters, Luella Redner of Tampa, FL, Rhoda Segal of Seneca, Lorraine Cosh (David) of Spartanburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, Freida is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Wagner.
A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, December 14th, 2023 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and family from 9:00 am – 10:00 am, Thursday, December 14th, 2023 prior to the service in the atrium of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
