FRED SMITH
Westminster – Fred Smith, 91, of 11872 Long Creek Highway, Westminster, went to be with his Lord on July 10th, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was born November 30, 1931, to the late Grover and Icie Smith. Fred was employed by J.P. Stevens for more than fifty years before his retirement and he also provided grounds maintenance for Calvary Church of God for more than sixty years. Fred enjoyed fishing with Geneva often and horseback riding with friends as long as his health permitted.
Fred is survived by his children, Curtis Smith, Freddy Smith, Debra Cater, Randy Smith, Melinda Collinsworth, Carolyn Kimbrell; siblings, Levis Smith, Louise Holcombe, Betty Suttles; grandchildren, Matthew Readett, Tim Readett, Jennifer Snipes, Chris Smith, Jeff Smith, Deanna Treadway, Mike Smith, Jody Smith, Brent Smith, Bradley Smith, Christy Sluder, Eric Smith, Vince Smith, Jessica Moody, Adam Corbett, Justin Corbett, Aimee Kimbrell, Brady Kimbrell; 40 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special and dear friends, Bill and Paris Ann Smith and Evelyn Marcus.
In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Geneva Pitts Smith; son, Jerry Wayne Smith; daughter, Peggy Readett; grandson, Scotty Smith; and his brother, Rev. J.B. Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Calvary Church with burial to follow at Calvary Church of God Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, July 14, 2023, at Sandifer Funeral Home.
