Frances Chastie

Townville- Frances Katherine Gibbs Chastie, 89, wife of the late William Joseph Chastie, passed away Thursday, April 7th, 2022 at her residence.

 

Born in Oconee County, Frances was the daughter of the late William Lester Gibbs and Laura Mae Bradley Gibbs.  Frances retired from Beacon Manufacturing, was a teacher at Bethel Learning Center for many years, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  Frances enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and gardening.     

 

Frances is survived by her daughter, Peggy Cobb (Danny) of Townville; sister, Johnnie Hess (Paul); grandchildren, Katrina Davis, Kristy Martin, Sherri Gambrell; great-grandchildren, Jordan Davis, Kaci Martin, Tristin Gambrell, Kayleigh Carver, Chloe Gambrell; and great-great-grandchildren, Isabella Collins, Mayleigh Carver, and Bentlee Carver.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by sons, William “Ronnie” Chastie and Timothy “Tim” Chastie; brother, William “Bill” Gibbs, Jr.; and sister, Mary Ann Vaughn.

 

The family would like to offer special thanks to Amanda Prichard (step-granddaughter) for all her help.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 11, 2022, at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
