Four official Oconee Weather reporting stations

Retired school teacher Barbara Wilson is an official U-S weather observer, at her farm property location at Walhalla.  But she’s not the only weather watcher on whom the National Weather Service relies to track important weather data in Oconee County.  The NWS also maintains reporting stations in Long Creek, at the Walhalla State Fish Hatchery, and at the Oconee Regional Airport.  And according to the NWS’s Chris Horne at Greenville-Spartanburg, a number of automated stations, containing various equipment, provide other data from Oconee EMS and fire stations, from the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, Duke Energy, and the U-S Forest Service.
