Four apply for Public Service Commission seat 3

Four residents of South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District have applied to represent the district on the state Public Service Commission. The role of a PSC board member is full-time and well-paying. Commissioners hold jurisdiction over on matters pertaining to investor-owned electric and gas utilities, water and wastewater companies, among other entities. The four PSC applicants from District Three are Kevin Evans of Salem, Mike Caston of Clemson, Randy Randall o f Clinton, and Santana Freeman of Abbeville. The state’s Public Utilities Review Committee is headed by Senator Thomas Alexander of Walhalla, the chairman; and Rep. Bill Sandifer of Seneca, vice chairman. A schedule for hearings on the qualifications of all candidates for the PSC—for seats 1, 3, 5, and 7—will be announced. Members of the public have the opportunity to testify at the hearings, but must make their intent known by noon Friday, November 1.
