Foundation commitment to the Joseph F. Sullivan Center

The Pete and Sally Smith Foundation has committed $100 thousand to support the nurse-managed clinic Joseph F. Sullivan Center on the Clemson University campus. Beyond supporting campus wellness for students, the Sullivan Center provides outreach to many under-served communities, such as neighboring Oconee County, through the use of mobile health clinics. Plans call for the $100 thousand to go toward the purchase of two mid-sized SUVs that are to be used to improve follow-up visits and specific health care services, in conjunction with the center’s larger mobile clinic. Paula Watt, executive director of the Sullivan Center, says the gift will enable the center to support more locations and remove barriers to care in rural communities, especially those in Oconee. The Pete and Sally Smith Foundation supports charitable causes in the areas of education, the environment, and medical research disease management in both Oconee County, South Carolina and Rhea County, Tennessee.
