Former high school principal engaged in adult education work

Former high school principal Steven Moore brought the mission statement of Oconee Adult Education to a meeting last night of the county school trustees. Adult education, based on Seneca’s Holland Avenue, adheres to these marching orders: “The mission of adult education in Oconee County is to assist adults in becoming literate, to assist adults in the completion of a secondary school education, and to assist adults in improving their knowledge and skills relating to employment and parenting.” And Moore told the board of a recent success in which three Walhalla High students in the last three weeks abandoned plans to quit school. Moore administers adult education in which students study for the equivalent to a high school diploma, but he also believes that the more he can do to encourage a student to stay in regular school, the better off that student will be.
