For the cause of environmental science

The cause for environmental science was advanced this morning at Walhalla High School, as the “FOLKS” organization gave $1 thousand toward the class work of the school’s environmental science students. The Friends of Lake Keowee money comes from its adopt-a-stream program and will help bring to life the science curriculum taught to the students. That money is going to allow the school to buy a new water quality testing kit, which the students can use to monitor the quality of Williams Creek on the school property. Williams Creek is a tributary, eventually into Lake Keowee, and teacher Amanda Gladys says it’s a way for her students to protect the watershed. Mike White represented “FOLKS” at the check presentation this morning at the school. Among some of those students excited about protecting water quality are Isaac Barnes, Mattie Hamor, Issiah Neal, and Allison Laschower.
