Foothills Trail rebounds from snow and storm damage

In spite of damage from a December snowfall and the effects of wicked rain storms, the hiking trail that connects the Table Rock and Oconee state parks is primed for a new season of hikers. Heyward Douglass of the Foothills Trail Conference and other volunteers were engaged as late as this week in maintenance. The size of some of the trees that fell across the Foothills Trail in recent months has required the use of crosscut saws. But Douglass says those trouble spots were only isolated sections of the trail. Overall, he pronounces the Foothills Trail in excellent shape.
