Foothills Farmstead reconstruction approved

After years of planning and hoping, a reconstructed farmstead showcasing late 19th and early 20th century farm life in Oconee County will have the money to proceed. The County Council on Tuesday unanimously gave a stamp of approval to pass-through grant funding for $79,500 to Old Oakway Architectural Salvage to construct the farmstead at 150 Schoolhouse Road. The Foothills Farmstead organization has received a South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism grant for $100,000 to further the project and last year the county council approved $50,000 in matching funds. The final dispensing of the grant funds, however, required county approval.
