Food service pays fine, cafeteria takes correction action

The food provider for Oconee public schools paid a $1,600 dollar state penalty for a cafeteria violation in Seneca’s Northside Elementary School. Since then, however, a district official says a follow-up inspection gave the cafeteria “a perfect score.” The $1,600 fine was part of a DHEC consent order requiring the Sodexo company to correct a violation of failure “to maintain proper holding temperatures of time/temperature control for safety foods.” DHEC says it acted based on four inspections between 2018 and 2019.
