“FOLKS” President Desires Meeting

The president of a Lake Keowee watchdog group says the numbers of deaths at the lake are high enough for there to be a meeting of the minds as to what can be done to lower the fatality rate. Jack Lewis says the Friends of Lake Keowee have received word that since 1993, there have been 35 deaths-18 of which have occurred at the Fall Creek Landing. Lewis says “FOLKS” has suggested signs, eliminating the walkway to island #22 and converting the landing into a supervised county park. He’d like to see a meeting of representatives of Duke Energy, the DNR, the sheriff’s offices in Oconee and Pickens counties, and his organization, the Friends of Lake Keowee Society.
