Fly me to the moon is “Skeet’s” desire

The night before he graduated from Seneca High School in 1946, Oatha “Skeet” Vaughan accomplished a childhood dream.  He made a solo flight in a Piper J-3 Cub from what then was the Seneca airport.  His interest in aeronautics would lead to a 45-year career with “NASA” that started on a team led by Werner von Braun at Huntsville, Alabama.  That career saw Skeet Vaughan study lunar research which fostered in him an interest in space travel.  He’s now approaching his 92 year, retired and living in Huntsville.  We had the opportunity to connect by phone with Vaughan, and that conversation can be heard on the next ‘Community Soundoff’ during the noon hour this Sunday.
