Flu season worries South Carolina senator

The CDC helped protect Americans against COVID-19.  South Carolina’s junior U-S senator now wants the federal health agency to try to ensure against a severe influenza outbreak that could infect the vulnerable senior citizen population.  Senator Tim Scott has dashed off a letter to the Biden administration, urging CDC protection for older Americans during the upcoming flu season.  Scott is a ranking member of the Special Committee on Aging.  The 2020-21 flu season was the mildest on record.  That leads some experts to worry that the next season could be more severe.  Scott’s letter states, “By providing the information requested, the CDC will help us understand how the CDC is working to mitigate the flu’s impact on the senior population and ensure that those who endured the largest burden of the COVID-19 pandemic will be protected during the upcoming flu seasons.”
