Five more Oconee Covid cases, two more deaths

Oconee County is fast approaching 1,000 COVID-19 cases, since the counting started in March.  Five additional cases were added to the county’s totals (now 998) in today’s DHEC report, along with two additional Oconee County deaths. Both were elderly persons who died on August 9 and 17.  According to a DHEC spokeswoman, Oconee’s COVID-19 death toll stands at 16, counting the two deaths reported today. Statewide, DHEC today  announced 505 new confirmed cases and 42 additional confirmed deaths.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 112,643, probable cases to 1,450, confirmed deaths to 2,451, and 122 probable deaths.

As of yesterday, a total of 972,538 tests have been conducted in the state.

The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday statewide was 2,470 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 20.4%.
