Five days of South Carolina COVID numbers coming

Today is the day South Carolina DHEC will report COVID-19 numbers covering a five-day period from Wednesday last week through Monday this week.  Forecast models used by the CDC suggest that cases, hospitalizations and deaths will increase over the next four weeks.  According to the models, the U-S death toll could reach 862,900 by January 22. Nationally, estimates suggest between 8,700 and 20,800 Americans could be admitted to the hospital each day by January 10. The DHEC calculation is that of all Oconee County cases, three percent have required hospitalization. By last week, the toll of dead in Oconee was pegged at 257 county residents– 242 confirmed deaths; 15 probable deaths.
