Filling a gap in Walhalla’s zoning law

Walhalla is on its way to creating a new zoning classification that’ll entitle homes to be built on lots of 10 thousand square feet minimum. The city council last night gave first reading to a residential-10 zoning classification, which will slot between residential-5 and residential-15. The idea for the residential-10 zone grew out of the debate about the small home development proposed on Tyre B. Mauldin Street. According to a memo the council from Brent Taylor, the city administrator, “This will provide an additional means for the Planning Commission and Council to address land development issues.”
