Filing opens for non-partisan seats

Local filing remains open for three sets of seats in the November General Election, but the deadlines to run are next week. At last report, three people were in the fold to seek a pair of seats on Oconee County School Board. The deadline to run is noon Monday. Meantime, the office of Oconee Elections is accepting candidates for both the Keowee Fire District Commission and the Beaverdam Watershed Conservation District. So far, five people have signed up for the four available fire district commission seats. As yet, no one has filed for the watershed conservation district positions. Last month Bob Winchester and Carol Hendrix turned in signatures by the deadline to run for two seats on the Oconee Soil and Water Conservation Commission.
