“FEMA” is there to help

Homeowners, renters and business owners in Oconee who have un-insured or under-insured losses from the April 12-13 storms and tornadoes may now apply for disaster help from the federal government.  You can register for FEMA assistance by logging onto DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800/621-3362.  The following documentation is required:  Social Security number; daytime phone number; current mailing address and zip code of the damaged property; insurance information, if available; income information; and banking information; and banking information, if requesting direct deposit.  Applicants will receive a letter from FEMA by mail or email.  It’s important that you read the letter carefully as it will contain the amount of any assistance that FEMA may provide and the appropriate use of the funds.
