Faires proves to be the deal closer

In a vote of 3-0, Oconee’s state “C” Fund Committee committed nearly one million dollars today to pay for the final phase of a Seneca project to re-pave and widen N. Townville Street.  Chairman Sam Dickson gavev the exact amount–$991,598.06. The work, from the downtown to the overhead bridge above the By-Pass, has been done in phases.  The third and final phase will see work between the Gignilliat Community Center and the overhead bridge and will create a safer intersection where N. Townville meets N. Pine and Robin Drive in front of the Northside Elementary School.  Bob Faires, utilities director, represented Seneca at the meeting and said afterward that he is happy to be going back to his city with the commitment and is grateful to the committee of Dickson, the chairman; and members Tally Grant and Dick Cottingham.  The work should take place next summer, Faires said.
