Fair Play business gets special exception for add-on

A special exception before the Oconee Board of Zoning Appeals had a certain ring to it. The appeals board, in its judiciary role, approved a special exception from Yoder’s to allow a second storage building. Permission was granted in a 5-0 vote. But there were comments by Ryan Honea, a board member from Fair Play, which a business such as Yoder’s inside the Fair Play village sub-district of the I-85 overlay district should not even have had to seek permission. As Honea put it, “They (Yoder’s) are probably the best-looking thing in Fair Play now.” Honea added that he didn’t think Yoder’s should have had to go the extra expense required by the special exception process.
