Explanation why pets disappear on the 4th of July

“More pets go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year.”  The Oconee Humane Society says there’s a simple explanation why that is so.  Humans enjoy fireworks, but the sound and flickering lights terrify normally calm pets.  The Humane Society recommends bringing all pets–especially dogs–inside and create a safe place for them to stay during fireworks celebrations.  And never even think about taking pets to fireworks shows.  July 4 fireworks are synonymous with mom and apple pie.  But July 5 is often the busies day for animal shelters in the country.
