Essie Elberta Burrell

Walhalla, SC — Essie Elberta Burrell, 91, wife of the late Floyd Burrell, of Walhalla, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Cottingham Hospice House.

 

A native of Oconee County, SC, Mrs. Burrell was the daughter of the late Dee Phidel and Addie Clementine Swafford Roach. She was a member of Cherry Hill Church of God where she taught children’s Sunday School and was very active in working the church’s activities. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crafting, and had a passion for gardening. Her tomatoes were legendary and she tended her garden until October 2021. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

 

Mrs. Burrell is survived by her son: Morris Burrell (Loretta) of Walhalla; daughters: Nancy Campbell of Salem and Janet Kelley (Robert) of Walhalla; grandchildren: Terry Campbell (Tammy), Tim Campbell (Annette) , Selena Crowe, Julie Kelley, Nicole Burrell, and Loran Burrell (Tracy); great-grandchildren: Brittney Campbell (Patrick), Jacob Campbell (Taylor), Dylan Campbell (Abby), Sam Bellotte, Kelley Bellotte, Carson Bellotte, Luke Bellotte, and Caroline Bellotte; great-great-grandchilren: Scarlett Campbell, Ryder Kelly, and Kyzer Kelly.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Burrell was preceded in death by her great-grandson: Austin Wade Campbell.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Cherry Hill Church of God, 761 Cheohee Valley Rd., Tamassee, SC 29696.

 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, prior to the service, at Cherry Hill Church of God.
