Emergency grant helps Oconee clean up

It’s now one year and counting since an EF-3 tornado tore apart parts of Seneca and surrounding area, and it’s likely to be many months more before the looks of part of the county will return to the normal of pre-April 13, 2020.  That is the estimate that Oconee government has received from “FEMA”—the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  But to help restore, Oconee is directing emergency watershed protection grant money to a Greenville contractor.  Which Amanda Brock, county administrator, says first phase will remove 11 thousand yards of debris from creeks and other waterways. The goal is to avoid damage to bridges and culverts and prevent a buildup of the kind of silt that can damage aquatic life and the general health of a stream.
